BOUNDERIES

Welcome once again to another Alttr Audio Sabbath School Study…. This Study is for Lesson 2, Tuesday…. July 5 2016. The title of this lesson is “BOUNDRIES”…… As usual, let us pray before we begin……..

So far this week, we have been studying what the Dominion that God gave to man in the Garden of Eden specifically entails……. I am here to tell you today that, if we take a closer look at this subject, we will come to find that there were certain boundaries to the Dominion that was given to man. The authority that was given to Adam and Eve did not mean that they could go and do whatever they felt like doing.

For example, one of the boundaries that was given to Adam and Eve is found in Genesis 2:16-17…and it reads… “And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”

As we know, Adam & Eve overstepped the boundaries of their dominion, and mankind has been paying the consequences of it ever since.

As for us, we learned in yesterday’s study, that when we place our faith in our crucified, yet risen savior Jesus Christ, we become Son’s and Daughters of God as told to us by Paul in 2 Corinthians 6:18

If we become sons and daughters of the one who is KING of the universe and everything in it, do we not become royalty ourselves. 2 Peter 2:9 tells us that royalty is just what we are. As this is true, then dominion is afforded to us…… And remember, this comes by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the Cross.

Now that you know that Dominion is given to you, the believer….. What are the Boundaries to your Dominion? Well, Adam was given a law or command as his boundaries….. Just the same, there are a set of Laws or commands that we are told to follow that are our boundaries.

The Ten Commandments are our boundaries… but let’s back track… These commandments existed even before Adam and EVE were created… And in the one sin they committed, they broke all ten… Maybe in a later devotional, I will expound on it more. But let us stay on track.

In the ten commandments we find the foundation of our boundaries which is LOVE…… The first 4 commandments represent the boundaries founded in Love for God. The Last 6 commandments represent boundaries founded in Love for our fellow man. This is why when Jesus Christ was asked what the greatest of the ten commandments was, he replied with this statement found in Matthew 22:37-40

“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

If we Honor God by obeying him, and Show the same kind of Love and Mercy that he shows to us to others, we stay well within the Boundaries of the dominion that God has given us.

There are many in recorded history that have had earthy dominion, who overstepped these boundaries, causing God to humble them in the end…… In the Bible, there Is Pharaoh, who defied God by calling himself God (the breaking of the first four commandments) and treacherously enslaved the Hebrews (which is the break of the last 6)….. We know how God dealt with him.

Then there is King Herod, who saught to be the only King of the Jews or anyone else (breaking the first four commandments), and killed as many boys from the ages of 2 and under that he could find in the realm of his dominion. (breaking of the last 6). King Herod dropped dead sometime after this.

Jesus tells us in John 14:15 “if you love me, keep my commandments”….. These men decided to not show any love or reverence to God in the form of obedience nor did they desire to show grace or mercy to their fellow man.

This is why these men have lost their dominion, and much more their soul salvation……..So……. you may think that you do not fall under the category of these men, as you….by God grace of course…….. show love to God and man….

But did you know that you overstep the boundaries of your Dominion when you do not make great use of this Dominion that God has given you……… Here is an example of this…. In Matthew 25:14-30 we read of the parable of the talents. In this parable, a master (who represents Christ) is going on a long journey, but gives talents or his business/investments to three servants (who represent believers) to manage….. expecting them to make more of a profit from it during his absence.

To the first he gave 10, the second 5 and the third 1….. Upon the masters return, the first and second servant doubled their masters investment, while the third did nothing with the lot that was given to him.

The three servants where given all that belongs to the master, but only 2 took advantage of the opportunity.

God has given each and everyone of us actual talents… Many of us have one while others have a long list of talents. But we all are gifted at something, talents specifically designed for us by the hand of God. These talents are to be used to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ…. and as Jesus has taken his long journey to heaven, he will soon return expecting a report of what you have done to glorify his name and enlarge His kingdom with the Talents that he has given you.

If we only knew that power that was within us, and what God really expected of us…. We are truly Kings and Queens, and we need to start acting like it…. Let me calm down before I go on a long rant……….. let me close off with this…. There is much more to our dominion that I did not even touch on…. God has given you the ability by his Spirit to Have dominion over Your Flesh and Sin in your life…… He has given you the ability to have dominion over the earth and animals by the care and concern that you show…… This dominion goes on and on….

Really take a look at your life, The talents that you have, and the God that you serve……. AND CLAIM YOUR DOMINION BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST TODAY……
