EVENING THOUGHT
PURPOSE IN YOUR MIND
(READ REVELATION 14:1, 4. 12; EXODUS 34:5-7)
Are you the kind of person that when you make a decision, your mind cant be changed??? Some may think that this is a bad characteristic, but it is one that is needed in Christianity. Daniel was the kind of individual that, when he made up his mind to commit to something, there was no turning back for him.
When commanded to eat the King’s food, Daniel 1:8 tells us that “But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.”….
Of course Daniel did not do this in his own will power. As he purposed in his heart, or in lamen terms……… made up his mind, to serve God by following his word on foods and diet, not defiling his body. God then gave Daniel the power to stand firm in that decision.
God imparts the Holy Spirit to you to strengthen, lock, and even seal you in your decision to stand for him, once you have decided to commit to him. Ephesians 4:30 tells us that the Holy Spirit is the one that places the seal of God on us, locking us in our decision, unto the day of redemption, the second coming of Jesus Christ.
We see a description of sealed individuals who will live to see Jesus Christ crack the skies. In Revelation chapter 14 in the first verse, we see a group of individuals standing on Mount Zion with the Lamb himself, Jesus Christ. These individuals were sealed in their foreheads with the name of thief heavenly Father… What does this mean????
Lets begin with the name of God…….. There is an instance in Exodus chapter 33:18 where Moses is on Mt. Sinai communing with God. Moses asks God to show him His Glory. Essentially asking God to allow Moses to see Him. God let Moses know that this could not be done, but that he would hide Moses behind a cliff of rocks, and show him a piece of his Glory.
The Glory that God allowed Moses to see is found in your reading…… Exodus 34:5-7… “And the Lord descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord. And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.”…………
Here we find out that the Glory of God is his NAME, and that his name is his Character. This brings us to our foreheads where his name is to be placed…… Your forehead, most namely the frontal lobe region, is where your decisions making, critical thinking, and center of morality is found. If the name of God is sealed on your forehead, this means you have critically thought out that it would be the best decision for the word of God to be the basis of your moral standing. And in making this decision, the Holy Spirit will help you stand firm in it, by developing the Character of God in you, or…… writing God’s name in your forehead.
Daniel is an Old Testament example of all of us who desire to be named among the individuals that we see in Revelation chapter 14…. He purposed in his heart not to defile his body dishonoring the word of God, just like those in revelation 14 did not defile themselves. Daniel Followed the word of God just like those in Revelation 14 followed Jesus wherever he went, which is just symbolism saying, they followed the word of God. Daniel 1:8 and revelation 14:1 and 4 go together. Remember yesterday I said that the book of Daniel gives us the keys to understanding the book of revelation?????
Also, in keeping the commandments of God, Daniel had to have faith that God would save him in his time of trouble. In Revelation 14:12 we read that these sealed individuals, “keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”……
The people in revelation chapter 14 is a future picture of anyone who makes a decision to be in this class. This means that you could be reading about yourself here. But you need to make up in your mind, that you desire to serve God and he will give you the power , by His Spirit to be one of these sealed individuals…….Is this something that you want for yourself?????? I know I do…. …..I will leave you with this challenge: CHOOSE TODAY, WHO YOU WILL SERVE, WHETHER THE god’s OF THIS WORLD, OR THE CREATOR OF THE HEAVENS EARTH AND SEAS. AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE, WE CHOOSE TO SERVE THE LORD.
